Do you know your skin type? Do you have a skin type that doesn’t fit neatly into the skincare descriptions found on product labels?
Do you find the number of skincare products to be completely overwhelming?
You aren’t alone!
Millions of dollars are spent on skincare products that end up in the trash because they didn’t work for a particular skin type. Wouldn’t it be great to find products tested explicitly for your type, once and for all?
BellaLisse partners with Skin Type Solutions, a specialty company built upon the patented skin type system founded by dermatologist Dr. Leslie Baumann. By utilizing her rigorously tested questionnaire and classification system, you will gain insight into your skin type’s specific qualities. This awareness will help you focus on products specifically suited to your type.
No more guessing. No more wasted products!
Want to take the quiz? You can take it online, in our office, or through the app (Android or Apple iOS). Our clinic code is Bella175.
You may have heard of facials, but perhaps you have never had one, and you’re not sure how you can benefit?
There are different levels of facials, depending on the environment in which it is delivered (a day spa versus a medical environment) and the level of training of the provider.
In the general sense, a classic spa facial is essentially a complete skincare package in one session, including:
Facials deeply cleanse the skin and can help with specific problems like mild acne or dryness. They are relaxing and will likely leave your skin feeling healthy, pampered, and glowing.
However, they cannot correct more severe issues such as texture and hyperpigmentation. These issues may require more intense treatments, such as a chemical peel or microneedling.
Medical-level facials are performed in a medical environment and incorporate medical-grade products and tools. These treatments are designed to affect skin at a deeper level and can be tailored to your specific concerns. Medical level facials can include dermaplaning, chemical peels, and microneedling.
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure that removes the top layer of dead skin cells and fine facial hair. The procedure can augment the absorption of skin products and prime skin for a chemical peel. There is no downtime following the procedure, although sensitive types may experience minor redness or puffiness.
Dermaplaning may be performed as often as every 3-4 weeks.
You may be a little frightened by the term chemical peel. Does it conjure images of a mad laboratory scientist concocting potions to remove your skin?
A chemical peel is actually a skin treatment applied to penetrate the top layers of skin and expedite exfoliation to reveal smoother and clearer new skin. In addition to exfoliation, chemical peels stimulate elastin and collagen production to improve firmness, tone, and texture. Some peels, called medium depth peels, reach the upper dermis and help improve acne, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, rosacea, and smoothing rough skin. There are also deep peels, which penetrate to an even deeper level to remove age spots and deeper lines.
All peels at BellaLisse are superficial to medium depth peels, suitable to any skin type. Most treatments will cause some peeling, although superficial peels may result in only minor irritation. Peeling is dependable with medium depth peels, starting at 48 hours post-peel and continuing for the next 2-4 days, depending on the type of peel. Results are generally visible in 6-7 days. All peels include a post-care kit to nurture your peel and your fresh new skin.
Our peels can also be performed on troubled body areas, including your neck, décolletage, backs of arms, legs, and back. Maximum benefit is seen with a series of 3 or more peels.
Microneedling is a popular, safe, and effective treatment for all skin types.
The procedure creates controlled micro-wounds that serve to stimulate a healing cascade: increased blood flow, a release of growth factors, and ultimately the increased production of collagen. It works well on age spots, acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, and skin laxity.
Improvement generally becomes noticeable after 1-2 treatments, although three treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart is recommended. Collagen remodeling takes time, so your skin will continue to improve over 6-12 months with proper skincare.
Microneedling can be combined with other services, such as peels or tox injections, for maximum benefit.
After reviewing the procedure and addressing your concerns, numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure the procedure is comfortable. Following the treatment, you’ll be pampered with a mask and a soothing serum. You may experience some redness, as in sunburn, and possibly some pinpoint bleeding immediately after the procedure. Usually, the redness resolves within a few hours, and normal activities can be resumed the following day. As your skin begins to heal, you may experience minor itchiness that can be relieved with a topical steroid cream.
For even greater benefit, adding your own plasma components to the microneedling process may induce additional cell renewal and collagen formation. The process is the same as microneedling, except that we will draw a blood sample during your numbing time. This sample is placed in a centrifuge and processed. The plasma solution is placed on your skin while microneedling so that it can penetrate the micro-wounds and ultimately increase collagen and elastin formation.
Distraught over thinning hair or hair loss?
Unfortunately, hair loss can occur for a multitude of reasons, and it’s not always easy to determine why it’s happening to you.
Sometimes it’s normal to lose hair, such as following pregnancy, surgery, profound weight loss, or periods of increased stress. It will take time, but in these situations, your hair will generally regrow on its own.
Other potential causes may include thyroid disorder, vitamin deficiency, scalp infection, or hairstyles that pull on the hair. Genetics may also play a part. Before having any procedure performed, it is essential to consider and treat any causes that will undermine new hair growth.
After ruling out other potentially treatable causes, you may want to consider scalp injections. In this procedure, small doses of your own blood components are injected directly into the thinning hair areas. The concentrated growth factors, platelets, and white blood cells can result in significant clinical results (Arora & Shukla, 2019). Adding microneedling and a hair growth supplement, such as Nutrafol, further improves outcomes.
Tox injections are the injectable delivery of botulinum toxin. Although it sounds a little scary, botulinum toxin is an FDA-approved medication widely utilized for various medical purposes, including aesthetics, migraines, spasms of the eyelid (blepharospasm), cervical dystonia, hyperhidrosis, and bladder leakage.
At BellaLisse, neurotoxins are used for cosmetic purposes to help smooth wrinkles of the face caused by age-related skin thinning and repeated muscle contraction (dynamic wrinkles). It will not work well on static wrinkles, such as those caused by sleep position or skin laxity. Typical areas of cosmetic treatment include frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
Botulinum toxin works by temporarily weakening the underlying muscle’s ability to contract, thus relaxing the overlying skin. The primary benefit is that skin in the area of the injection will appear smoother and less wrinkled. Results generally last three months but may vary between individuals. Risks of toxin injection, although rare, may include heavy brows or lids for the duration of effect and bruising in the area of injection.
CORE to FLOOR refers to our central core strength – the root of all our movement. Infrequent or overly aggressive exercise, desk sitting, having babies and the aging process can lead to a loss of muscle strength throughout our core. A weak core can ultimately cause posture, strength, balance, pain and incontinence issues.
CORE to FLOOR workouts with EMsculpt NEO and EMsella can help regain CORE to FLOOR strength, improve posture and potentially relieve back pain. Both devices utilize HIFEM (high intensity focused electromagnetic field) technology to stimulate muscle contractions (similar to exercise) in order to strengthen, firm, tone, and improve neuromuscular control. Radiofrequency energy produced by the NEO reduces fat at the same time — a double benefit!
EMsculpt NEO is a first-in-class device offering simultaneous fat reduction while building muscle strength.
EMsculpt NEO is designed for body shaping.
Tone your body while decreasing fat. In fact, 3 clinical studies demonstrated an average 30% decrease in fat and 25% increase in muscle in as little as four treatments.
Tighter abs? Yes
Butt lift? Yes
Toned arms? Yes
Toned legs? Yes
Not only can you look better in your skin; you can simultaneously strengthen your core and improve your posture while decreasing back pain.
NEO uses RF (radiofrequency energy) to decrease fat and HIFEM (high intensity focused electromagnetic fields) to build muscle. Muscles are tightened, toned, and strengthened in the same way as doing 20,000 manual crunches or squats. The 30 minute treatment is non-invasive and painless with no downtime.
EMsella is a breakthrough treatment utilizing HIFEM technology to stimulate contractions of the pelvic floor, similar to Kegel contractions. These contractions help rebuild the strength & tone necessary to support pelvic organs effectively. Strong pelvic muscles provide improved bowel and bladder control as well as potential sexual benefits. You may see significant improvement in your core strength, balance, posture, incontinence, and back discomfort.
The treatment is non-invasive and painless with no downtime. Simply sit on the EMsella chair, fully clothed, for your 28-minute treatment. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Everyone has those “problem areas” that need a little firming. Perhaps you have lost weight and have some laxity on your middle, or you are starting to notice some sagging above your elbows and knees. And how about your neck?
Exilis Ultra uses ultrasound and radio-frequency energy to tighten and tone superficial trouble areas.
It’s non-invasive, requires no downtime, and can be used on virtually any part of the body, including the face, neck, decolletage, arms, hands, flank, abdomen, and thighs.
Exilis creates a controlled thermal wound, which stimulates collagen formation and skin remodeling. Benefits include a reduction in skin laxity, a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, and a reduction in the appearance of photodamage (McDaniel, Weiss, Weiss, Mazur, & Griffen, 2014).
Sessions generally take 20-30 minutes per treatment area and are painless. A warm sensation may be felt as the handpiece glides continuously over the skin. Depending on the treatment area, four to six sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart may be needed for optimal improvement. Since the therapy requires a transformation in the skin through the body’s own healing process, gradual improvement will be seen over 3-6 months. Results may be impacted by pre-existing skin elasticity; good elasticity will generally lead to more dramatic results. Clients with poor elasticity may need more treatments or additional time to achieve results.
As skin laxity naturally continues with aging, a periodic maintenance treatment every 6 months may be needed to maintain results.
LightStim ProPanel red light therapy is FDA-cleared to treat wrinkles on the entire face. Let’s face it; our diet isn’t always what it should be. Have days gone by without eating vegetables? Perhaps you are recovering from a surgery or recent illness and haven’t been eating well? Or maybe you over-indulged a bit last night?
IV nutrient infusions are an excellent way to replace fluids and nutrients quickly and efficiently. Unlike taking an oral supplement, the IV or injection route bypasses what’s known as the first-pass effect, or the filtering of ingested products through the digestive system. Delivering nutrients directly into the bloodstream allows greater availability and absorption; the bioavailability of intravenous delivery is 100%, whereas the bioavailability of ingested products varies greatly depending on other substances present in your body (i.e., caffeine, alcohol, other medications) or conditions you may have (i.e., Crohn’s disease, chronic diarrhea, irritable bowel disease, celiac disease, stress).
Nutrient infusions can be a mixture of vitamins, trace elements, minerals, amino acids, and anti-oxidants.
Common ingredients include:
Some nutrients are provided by injection rather than infusion. These can be either stand-alone services or IV infusion add-ons. Common injections available are:
IV fluids without additives are also available. This option helps replace fluids in times when it’s difficult to adequately orally rehydrate:
To ensure your safety and the appropriateness of an infusion:
You will find our infusion environment to be comfortable and relaxing.
Our chairs are equipped with work tables should you want to bring your laptop and work during your infusion, or you can just kick back, rest, and relax.
Infusion price varies by infusion choice and add-ons.
We’ll provide details on appointment length and pre-appointment requirements (if needed).
Depending on your visit type, and if recommended, obtain baseline labwork to use as a guide in formulating an individualized plan. Labwork is generally only recommended for certain IV nutrient infusions.
Labs may be conveniently drawn at our office or a lab of your choice.
To ensure we meet your expectations, your appointment will begin with a review of your history, therapy concerns, and a brief focused exam prior to performing any treatment.
