IV nutrient infusions are an excellent way to replace fluids and nutrients quickly and efficiently. Unlike taking an oral supplement, the IV or injection route bypasses what’s known as the first-pass effect, or the filtering of ingested products through the digestive system. Delivering nutrients directly into the bloodstream allows greater availability and absorption; the bioavailability of intravenous delivery is 100%, whereas the bioavailability of ingested products varies greatly depending on other substances present in your body (i.e., caffeine, alcohol, other medications) or conditions you may have (i.e., Crohn’s disease, chronic diarrhea, irritable bowel disease, celiac disease, stress).
Nutrient infusions can be a mixture of vitamins, trace elements, minerals, amino acids, and anti-oxidants.
